SCHEDULE:


7 hours/day; 7:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m.; Monday-Friday; 185 Days

COMPENSATION:


$50,097-$97,837/year depending on prior experience; Pay is annualized over 12 months (if hired after start of school year, spread over remaining months of fiscal year (Sept-Aug))

  • Professional Development and Supply Allocation Funds:

The District will provide annually $700 per FTE employee for reimbursement of 1) Classes, conferences and/or workshops; 2) Purchase of work related materials (no gift cards may be purchased with these funds for any reason); 3) Certification Support

  • New Certified Staff Funds:

The District will provide a one-time $400 per FTE reimbursement to new employees with one year or less previous teaching experience (includes substitute time) to support initial classroom setup and supply needs. Does not apply to partial year leave replacement contracts.


BENEFITS:


Paid leave; If utilizing flexible hours/schedule, position hours must generate at least 630 work hours in the current school year for the following to apply: Medical, dental, vision, and basic life and AD&D insurance; retirement plan; deferred compensation (DRS and TSA)


QUALIFICATIONS:


Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with library media endorsement; WSP/FBI criminal history background clearance


KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:

  • High level of technology expertise/experience.
  • Ability to inspire students and staff in reading and technology.
  • Demonstrated experience and/or college coursework in the following preferred: cataloging, selection of library media center materials, children's literature, reading, and basic administration of a library.
  • Knowledgeable about resources within the library and community.
  • Knowledge of development of basic library collections and other collections of instructional materials.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide leadership for the Library Information & Technology program and work with teachers to incorporate the Washington standards.
  • Teach appropriate library and technology skills to elementary students, including keyboarding.
  • Organize, manage and supervise the library media center, technology, and related services.
  • Serve as a resource person to other school staff by coordinating technology-related equipment and services.
  • Operate the library computer system and student resource/media center.
  • Train teachers and lead integration of technology into the instructional program.
  • Coordinate research activities to support classroom teaching.
  • Promote reading and provide literature to support the curriculum.
  • Actively participate in district and building Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, and administrators.
  • Implement district policy and procedures for selection and consideration of books and other materials.
  • Manage library media center; coordinate activities including material and equipment selection, record keeping, and inventory.
  • Instruct students in digital citizenship, including how to be critical consumers of information and provide guidance about thoughtful and strategic use of online resources.
  • Collaborate with colleagues as part of a professional learning community.
  • Possess good organizational skills and classroom management skills.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continued professional growth.
