JOB TITLE: Sexual Assault Advocate

REPORTS TO: Director of Clinical and Emergency Services

PROGRAM: A New Day, Brockton

HOURS: Full time (35 hours/week) some evenings required

SALARY: $26/HR

OVERVIEW: The Sexual Assault Advocate will provide advocacy and case management to families and/or individuals. The Sexual Assault Advocate will work within a team approach to monitor and support efforts of program participants to overcome barriers related to advocacy goals, obtaining community resources and services, improving living skills and obtaining housing.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  • Provide individual and group crisis support, intervention, and advocacy to survivors of sexual violence.
  • Conduct assessments to best determine the immediate client concerns and/or barriers including, but not limited to financial, legal, mental health, substance use disorders, employment, health care, housing and more.
  • Document and track all meetings, interactions, and information in the EmpowerDB database. Maintain up-to-date client files, statistical data, and monthly reports.
  • Manage a case load of up to 20 families and/or individuals.
  • Complete quarterly client file audit
  • Obtain resources and services as requested and/or needed to address barriers to advocacy goals as stated above including but not limited to, transportation, CORI mitigation, credit repair, and assistance with financial applications.
  • Provide day to day hotline and medical advocacy coverage as needed.
  • Accompany victims of crime to legal proceedings, including, but not limited to police departments to file complaints, district court for restraining orders, criminal trials, probate, and family court hearings.
  • Act as a liaison for Brockton Police Department for referrals, collaboration, support, and advocacy services.
  • Facilitate community trainings as needed.
  • Transport clients as appropriate to housing, medical, legal appointments.
  • Participate in community events and meetings as relevant to the position and increasing client capacity.
  • Develop partnerships and collaborative relationships with internal and external service providers to ensure clients have access to comprehensive services.
  • Participate in individual supervision as assigned by Director of Clinical and Emergency Services.
  • Participate in all required training and professional development activities.
  • Observe all program and agency rules and policies.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Clinical and Emergency Services.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • At least one year’s experience working with vulnerable and diverse populations.
  • Ability to maintain flexible schedule in accordance with program needs, i.e., some evenings and/or weekend emergency responses may be required.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to facilitate small and large group meetings.
  • Strong English language skills.
  • Travel is required.
  • A valid driver’s license, registration, auto insurance and a safe driver’s record

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: demonstrated experience working in partnership with victims/survivors of sexual violence. Bilingual/bicultural preferred.
