Who is Aztalan Bio?

Aztalan’s story is just beginning, and you can be part of it! ClonBio Group acquired Wisconsin’s largest ethanol plant in 2022 located in the village of Aztalan, just outside Jefferson, WI. The facility will process 40 million bushels of locally grown feed corn per year, turning that into food-grade corn oil, vegetable protein concentrates and isolates for food applications, aquaculture feeds, renewable natural gas, organic fertilizer, ethanol, and dietary fiber for foods, among other things. We are scheduled to start the facility in the fall of 2023 and are currently hiring!

Position Overview

The role of the Maintenance Planner is to improve workforce productivity and safety by coordinating all maintenance activities and by developing job and safety plans. This role will help maintain the base condition of all manufacturing equipment to maximize their availability in the most cost-effective way while also continuously improving processes and competencies with adherence to health and safety and regulatory standards.

The Maintenance Planner will be the liaison between maintenance, engineering, and operations to ensure all work activities are planned, estimated, and scheduled. This position will also be asked to provide leadership and guidance on the effective operations of the CMMS system.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Commitment and compliance to all safety policies and procedures to ensure zero injuries or incidents
  • Analyze and investigate all work requests and develop work order-based job plans
  • Plan maintenance work, estimate time and resources, and schedule planned jobs. Work with operations department to generate weekly work plans and schedules.
  • Ensure parts, materials, and tools are appropriately requisitioned to complete planned jobs
  • Maintains the base condition of equipment through:
  • Creates Preventative Maintenance (PM) packages
  • Identifies and executes shutdown activities
  • Identifies and optimizes CM activities
  • Identifies root causes and improvement actions
  • Identifies the scope of work orders executed by contractors and coordinates the activities.
  • Executes the asset care strategy
  • Assesses equipment by criticality
  • Develops maintenance processes
  • Follows up on technology and technical changes
  • Controls quality of work executed by contractors
  • Creates CAPEX list and support technology CAPEX
  • Manages technical documentation related to her/his field
  • Participates in stand by system and acts as person responsible in case of breakdowns
  • Executes waste analysis and develops strategies for TOP5 problematic equipment
  • Develops and schedules PM tasks aimed to fulfil legal requirements, administration and keeps contact with the authority
  • Work with maintenance manager and engineering manager to support plant reliability and mechanical integrity programs
  • Track and report on appropriate metrics to monitor and improve maintenance performance and plant reliability
  • Lead planning/scheduling effort for major plant shutdowns and equipment overhauls

Qualifications

  • Post secondary education in related technical field; Mechanical Engineer degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years as maintenance planner or industrial plant maintenance position
  • Experience dealing with planning, scheduling, and estimating in an Industrial Plant setting
  • Advanced computer skills for working along with the Computerized Maintenance Management System
  • Technical and organizational skills required to maintain parts and records on each piece of equipment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate with craftsmen within the department on job plans
  • Ability to independently direct their own work
  • Ability to prioritize, focus, and distinguish between urgent and important
  • Ability to work under stress
