Job Description

SK Siltron CSS has a unique opportunity at both sites in Auburn & Bay City, MI for a Grinding Process / Equipment Development Engineer. We are looking for a highly motivated, hands-on, and problem-solving experienced engineer to contribute to the abovementioned area in our cutting-edge SiC manufacturing line in Michigan and beyond.

Your main responsibility is to help sustain and improve our wafer engineering processes in the areas mentioned above. We are expanding dramatically, and this is an exciting opportunity to contribute to ramping up our manufacturing facilities. SK Siltron CSS is a rapidly expanding and fast-paced environment where you will work on critical subsystems of an incredibly exciting product.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Sustaining tools in your area of responsibility. Overseeing daily process performance, solving problems, implementing improvements, and keeping tools at optimal performance.
  • Hands-on process and equipment development of new processes and redesigns
  • Work with Operations and other organizations to support safety, environment, quality, incoming materials, and order fulfillment including infrequent off-hour support as needed
  • Designs and coordinates modifications to existing machines including placement, utilities, and provision for future growth by working closely with the operations department and management.
  • Improvement of the process and the equipment reliability and performance in conjunction with operations and Growth teams through various methods including 5S, Lean, DOE, SPC, OCAPs, Risk management, and model-based problem-solving.
  • Close collaboration with the suppliers to update/maintain/develop software/hardware

Required and Preferred Qualifications:

  • Science or Engineering Degree with an emphasis in Physics, Mechanics, Chemistry, Materials Science or Engineering related degree preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of semiconductor experience in Process, Equipment, Development and Production in the semiconductor or Si/SiC wafer fabrication facility preferred.
  • Working knowledge of grinding, polishing (CMP), or cleaning process/equipment preferred.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
