Northern Country Coop has 12 locations serving Northern Iowa and Southern Minnesota. The locations include Stacyville and Toeterville in Iowa; Adams, Alden, Brownsdale, Conger, Emmons, Lansing, LeRoy, Lyle, Oakland, and Rose Creek in Minnesota.

Agronomy Salesperson

FLSA Status: Exempt

Revision Date: 8/31/21

Position Summary: The agronomy salesperson is responsible for growing Northern Country Coop’s agronomy division thru sales and building customer relations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Report for work as scheduled.
  • Know and follow all company safety policies and procedures. Perform work in a safe manner.
  • Maintain detailed, individual producer files, technical info and sales related info and other such information that is important to growing sales
  • Serve as the first point of contact between customer and Northern Country Coop
  • Submit weekly reports or as directed
  • Prepare accurate invoices for customers using our billing programs
  • Strive to be knowledgeable of current farming practices and conditions effecting the customer
  • Learn the business and become a CCA (Certified Crop Advisor)
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relations
  • Provides timely feedback to manager
  • Be able to perform the same work done by the operations team at your location
  • Know our product offerings: seed, fertilizer, chemicals, custom application & precision ag
  • Know application rates, nozzle types and producer field info as well as provide accurate field maps for applicators
  • Arrange, facilitate & coordinate application jobs to be done with farmer and applicable staff members

Other Related Tasks:

  • Represent yourself and NCC professionally at all times in action and appearance – positively enriching the culture of NCC.
  • Work in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Follow up to ensure that work has been completed as approved.
  • Attend safety and related job trainings as they become available.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by manager.

  • Self-starter that performs accurate work and meets deadlines.
  • Be willing to put the team first in decision making and overall management.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and all agronomy programs that are being used by NCC or other programs as deemed necessary.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to make independent judgments, which have moderate impacts on the organization.
  • Good organizational skills with ability to prioritize tasks.

  • Requires physical strength and dexterity to walk, stand, bend, climb, reach, stoop, twist and lift/carry 50 pounds.
  • Vision, hearing and speech essential.

  • Hand coordination to use computer.
  • May require a valid driver’s license. While traveling may have contact with hazardous materials and drive/travel and work in adverse weather conditions.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, hear and use hands.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
