SUMMARY
Successfully and effectively coordinates workload for all employees in his/her assigned department within the Distribution Center. Utilizes a hands-on approach and oversees activities related to receipt and storage of goods, inventory management, slotting, returns processing, picking, packing, and shipping. Assists the distribution center manager and supervisors to meet or exceed company goals and objectives in DC fill-rate, budgeting, customer service levels, facility and equipment maintenance/operations. Helps facilitate efficient space management, productivity, accuracy, safety and loss prevention programs to ensure both customer requirements and financial requirements are met.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Fosters a safe working environment through employee engagement
  • Leads in creating a vision and employee environment for continuous improvement
PICKING
  • Improve lines picked, packed and shipped per hour to

  • Sorting/Counting of order lines

  • Fixes orders in JDE
  • Coaching/Training Picking employees
  • Lead Process Improvements
PACKING:

LTL:
  • Drives Culture of Problem Solving
  • Rate Carriers for orders
  • Schedule Pick ups
  • Communicate Carrier feedback / issues to supervisor for follow-up
  • Works with various internal departments to schedule freight.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Must Have Skills, Education and Training
1. 1-2 years of warehousing / distribution center experience required, with pervious lead or supervisory experience preferred. High school diploma or GED required.
2. Experience with and knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety rules required.
3. Knowledge of general business practices and cost accounting principles.
4. Experience dealing with all levels of management and with resolving customer issues.

5. Strong communication and leadership skills a must:
1. Demonstrated ability to anticipate business opportunities and obstacles.
2. Experience in generating fresh, innovative perspectives and solutions that are value-added.
3. Ability to analyze problems and identify solutions quickly.

6. Computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentations, and warehouse management systems (WMS) and/or Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
7. Valid driver’s license with acceptable motor vehicle report (insurable).
8. Valid fork lift license with proven ability to operate safely.
Preferred Qualifications, Skills
1. Broad knowledge and experience with material handling, warehouse operations and transportation systems. Prefer knowledge of RF scanning, conveyors, flow racks, carousels, etc.
2. Product knowledge in the automotive parts aftermarket.
3. Institutional knowledge within Myers Tire Supply.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and use hands along with fingers, to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
The employee must infrequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
