Job Description


AECOM
is seeking a talented and highly motivated Senior Sustainability Consultant to join the High-Performance Buildings and Communities team. This multi-disciplined team provides High Performance design leadership and consulting on sustainable buildings and communities with projects ranging from the design of net zero buildings to the sustainable planning of major global eco-cities. This position is to be based in Orange, San Francisco, Los Angeles or Seattle.


The candidate will have a technical background such as Engineering, Building Sciences, Sustainability, Architecture or similar and a minimum of 4 years professional experience in the green building/design sector.


The responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop of sustainable design strategies appropriate for the scope of the project.
  • Undertake building certifications such as LEED, WELL, Envision and GBI and GBCI Guiding Principles assessments.
  • Support design, engineering, and construction teams on green building projects and initiatives.
  • Research and develop sustainability guidelines and guidance for buildings, sites and campuses.
  • Assist with wider sustainability initiatives such as net zero, circular economy, embodied carbon assessments etc.
  • Develop green specifications.
  • Providing construction support via document reviews, check-ins and ad-hoc advice.
  • Develop community- and portfolio-level energy strategies, looking at, but not limited to: energy and water conservation, onsite generation and storage, district energy, microgrids, infrastructure resilience, and monitoring and control systems.
  • Technical assessment of building/campus energy demand and potential supply strategies using a combination of modeling, proprietary analysis tools, and the development of customized tools.
  • Prepare and present results and professional recommendations, in report or presentation format to clients and internal teams.
  • Complete energy modeling and investigations for LEED compliance as required.
  • Mentoring Junior Staff

Qualifications


Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required in Engineering, Building Sciences, Sustainability Architecture, or a related field + 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience/education


Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred 7+ years of experience
  • Masters' degree preferred in sustainability-related field
  • Additional certifications/licenses e.g., LEED AP, WELL AP, ENV SP are a plus
  • Experience or knowledge of embodied carbon analysis and circular economy
  • Working knowledge of the primary aspects of sustainable design
  • Understanding of high performance and zero carbon building principles and technologies
  • Experience of energy or utilities master planning
  • Experience in the assessment of distributed generation assets (solar PV, battery energy storage, etc.)
  • Knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office Suite, and in particular, Excel for data analytics and power point.
  • Ability to balance various project and company responsibilities and deadlines, while maintaining professionalism and quality
  • Adaptable and flexible, showing a willingness and ability to take on new projects or areas with or without supervision, as required
  • Team-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to proficiently communicate both internally and externally to build collaborative relationships
  • Experience working with federal government

  • Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $130,000.
