About the role
The Procurement Specialist will support the Procurement Manager by assisting in maximising benefits associated with supporting various daily procurement operations of a portfolio of commodities.
Responsibilities:
What you'll be doing
  • Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.
  • Learn and understand operating company needs, perform market analysis, anticipate strategic opportunities and keep key stakeholders informed through effective and managed communication
  • Conducting spend analysis for respective areas.
  • Assist and lead in cost analysis, RFP/RFQ processes and annual budgeting.
  • Assist and lead in negotiations with third party suppliers.
  • Assist and lead in implementation of contracts for Key Performance Indicators, invoicing and payments.
  • Participate in plant, supplier facilities, and logistics point-to-point visits and evaluations and supplier meetings.
  • Work with entire Procurement team including commodity manager(s) to develop knowledge about specific category activity and provide back-up support as needed.
  • Train and support business partners on all SAP Materials Management functions.
  • Audit requisitions for accuracy and compliance with Procurement policy as needed prior to PO creation.
Qualifications:
We're looking for
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Purchasing, Supply Chain, Business, Economics or Engineering, Accounting (OR degree must be obtained within six months of hire date)
  • 1 to 2 years of relevant work experience
  • Proficient/Advanced in MS Office, Google Drive, and SAP
  • Strategic sourcing knowledge and problem solving/analytical skills
  • Costs / results focused
  • Ability to drive cross-functional teams, build relationships and command respect
  • Good written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate effectively at all levels, and with all functions
  • A good balance between empathy and assertiveness when dealing with customers and suppliers
  • Strong analytical and execution skills with understanding of key cost drivers
  • Good category knowledge (markets, usage, TCO, etc.)
  • Sound knowledge of financial concepts, budget management and cost reduction initiatives
  • Strong knowledge of internal controls providing reasonable assurance of effective and efficient operations, including actions to prevent and detect fraud and protect Company resources
