Key Responsibilities:

To offer a program that meets the emotional, physical, intellectual and social needs of both the individual and the group. To interact with the children and to encourage their involvement in activities. To prepare a warm and safe environment that is orderly, clean and appealing and permits the child to grow and to explore. To plan with the assistant teacher weekly lesson plans based on Montessori method and to provide assistants with the opportunity to have input into the program.

The qualified teacher must establish and maintain good communication with parents through parent conferences twice a year and on a daily informal basis. To observe, give individual and group lessons. Model behavior and enforce grace and courtsey, treat children according to individual needs, remain in contact with the whole group and sense changing mood or activity symptoms, protect working children from interference, and make notes needed for later record keeping. To engage in activities to renew skills and stimulate teaching ideas: reading professional journals, attending seminars, observing other schools, etc. And any other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must have a Montessori teaching credential - 0 to 3 Montessori AMS, AMI, or MACTE approved training.

At least 1 year experience in an Montessori classroom.
