Job Overview

The Plant Manager will be responsible for all phases of plant manufacturing including product manufacturing, production assembly, plant safety, quality control, maintenance, scheduling, receiving, and shipping. This position will also manage daily manufacturing activities as they pertain to project schedules. Duties will include providing leadership and guidance to our manufacturing management team for fabrication, welding, assembly and finishing (painting) as well as general repair and maintenance of plant equipment, facilities and vehicles.

Job Functions

• Provides strategy and leadership to our manufacturing and production managers and teams to ensure that manufacturing and production runs in an efficient and high output manner
• Works closely with sales, engineering, operations to ensure we complete projects on-time, in-budget and to-specification.
• Experience of manufacture of electro-mechanical product.
• Ensures production follows appropriate workflow and assembly methods
• Meet performance review objectives.
• Create & deliver manufacturing plan to budget.
• Create & implement processes to meet business requirements.
• Support maintenance & development of ISO Quality Management System.
• Manage the manufacturing & facilities team including managing, mentoring and developing manufacturing employees.
• Contribute & implement to the strategic plan for operations.
• Set and manage performance targets for direct reports.
• Contribute to the development of the businesses to deliver stable products & processes.
• Work alongside Customer Service group to deliver world class reliability.
• Be a team player and able to work on own initiative
• Strong problem-solving skills (containment & counter-measure).
• Strong experience of supply chain management (including expediting, lead-time reduction, inventory management, packaging & shipping).
• Communication, influencing, negotiating and assertiveness.
• Demonstrate Lean Manufacturing experience in a high-volume environment.
• Experience of implementation of manufacturing functionality of ERP/MRP systems.
• Quality management / delivering Customer requirements.
• Project management, report writing & presentation skills.
• People management, including application of basic Employment Law.
• Professional, positive approach, and self-motivated
• Strong in building relationships and able to communicate at all levels
• Team player, Dynamic and Creative

Preferred Skills and Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in an Engineering Discipline
• MBA Preferred
• Strong background in TPS and 5S Principles
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and develop finished product from these plans.
• Relevant fabrication manufacturing experience.
• Positive attitude, able to handle tense situations that arise and remove barriers.
• General welding, fabrication, machining, and assembly skills
• Ability to lead manufacturing in daily tasks to meet project schedules
• Excellent computer skills - Microsoft office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Project); ability to work in Bastian Solutions MRP system.
• Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills
• High-energy individual who can multi-task and perform at a high level in a fast paced, high demand, and performance-driven environment.
• 5-7 years' experience in a production environment with leadership experience in directly managing production, forecasting and resource planning
• Extensive knowledge of lean manufacturing and ISO standards/certification
• Strong experience and knowledge of metal fabrication, Laser and Turret machine, welding, final assembly, powder coating and final test.
