NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs


If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.

Salary Range


$88,600 - $172,300

  • Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

What Your Job Will Be Like


Are you looking to join a dynamic and robust team? We are seeking a qualified Facilities Strategic Program Planner to join our high-energy team! You will articulate facility requirements to fulfill both customer and corporate needs.

In this Strategic Planner role, you will work with customers to develop analyses, studies, projections, and plans needed to sustain facilities and site infrastructure. You will help translate customer mission needs to facilities and infrastructure (F&I) requirements, help prioritize needs, and integrate customer requirements with corporate site planning stewardship and regulatory compliance requirements.

You will create customer engagement strategies to develop long range facilities sustainment plans for critical capabilities. This position will communicate with management, engineers, architects, and financial personnel on customer’s long-range facility needs. You will also collaborate with architectural and engineering firms to manage project development activity.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Articulate a customer’s facilities needs to mitigate mission risk.
  • Identify a customer’s facility investment needs, likely funding sources, and resources needed in cost and time to plan and implement project development.
  • Respond to National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), Other Government Agency (OGA), and/or internal corporate investment calls.
  • Support Program Managers with facilities information to help manage budgets.
  • Lead and develop planning studies to address Program, Division, or Center-specific facilities needs, including development of project charters to justify need, define scope, schedule, and budget to support Sandia’s mission objectives.
  • Be responsible for planning phase activity to incorporate site stewardship objectives.
  • Partner with various subject matter professionals with scientific, engineering, and facilities backgrounds to develop planning studies, and will work with corporate and NNSA data bases to communicate facility and infrastructure needs.
  • Articulate how project development fits into big picture campus and site-wide long-range site planning initiatives, and short- and mid-range implementation plans.
  • Provide information to feed into corporate and NNSA data bases and data sources used to manage facility assets.
  • Lead planning teams, and monitor quality of work for development of planning phase deliverables.
  • Coordinate with capital investment program management leads.
  • Prepare summary reports, presentations, and obtain approval for project development plans.

The successful candidate will need to obtain a professional accreditation in Architecture, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), Project Management, Professional Engineering, or Urban/Regional Planning within one year.

Qualifications We Require

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Urban/Regional Planning, Engineering, Project Management, or relevant discipline plus five (5) years' experience in planning and project development for buildings and infrastructure systems that support science and engineering laboratories and support facilities; or equivalent combination of education and experience (HS diploma + 13 years of exempt level, relevant experience; Associates degree plus 9 years of exempt level, relevant experience; Master's degree plus 1 year of exempt level, relevant experience).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance.

Qualifications We Desire

  • Strong experience with Project Programming (Architectural and Engineering)
  • Accreditation from AIA, AICP, PMI or Professional Engineering licensure.
  • Self-motivated and teaming design professional with good communications skills in coordinating activities with others.
  • Demonstrated presentation skills with ability to adapt message to collaborate with a broad range of management and staff.
  • Ability to lead teams with minimal guidance, and experience exercising latitude to develop objectives and how to carry out assignments.
  • Active DOE Q-level or DOD security clearance.
