POSITION SUMMARY

Keeps boxes and trash removed from the Receiving area. Bales the cardboard to sell to recycler.

  • Breaks down boxes from Receiving area.
  • Bales boxes to sell to recycler.
  • Keeps trash emptied in Receiving area.
  • Helps other areas as needed.

UALIFICATIONS

  • Less than high school education and three to twelve months experience.
  • Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's and perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions and deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

HYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear and occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift/move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

ORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles; frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; and occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

High school graduate or equivalent and three to twelve months experience.

  • SOP, Exeter, and e-mail skills.
  • Ability to operate forklift and pallet jack.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence and effectively present information to customers or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's and perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions and deal with problems involving a few concrete variables.
