Summary: The Materials Planner is responsible for ensuring a consistent and adequate supply of raw materials to support sale orders and forecasted demand. Interact with buyers and other materials management team members to effectively communicate order issues and reach a resolution. Monitor purchase orders to identify supply gaps and work directly with vendors to resolve discrepancies. Manages inventory to ensure that material resources are consistent with production schedules and customer-required dates.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensuring the consistent and adequate supply of materials necessary for production.
• Expedites deliveries past due from open purchase order reports.
• Confirm all open purchase orders with vendors to expedite timely delivery to the customer and production.
• Obtains current order delivery information from vendors and updates delivery information in the purchasing system.
• Scheduling and overseeing the supply and delivery of materials and products.
• Liaising with suppliers to get the best delivery dates.
• Communicates order delays, back orders, and/or discontinued items to department Buyers and Inventory Control through the confirmation process.
• Tracks and resolves problem shipments in collaboration with Distribution Center Receiving to ensure timely delivery to departments. Suggests process improvements for proactive resolution related to recurring problem shipments/vendors.
• Work with the customer service team to prioritize orders where material or capacity constraints exist.
• Managing inventory issues, schedule changes, and cancellations.

Skills and Abilities:

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required.
• Strong organizational skills - prioritizing time and using time efficiently are important. Completing tasks effectively and on time.
• Proficient in office 365.
• Working knowledge of SAP’s ERP program is highly desired.

Education and Experience:

• Associate degree or better
• 2-3 Years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
• Must be able to access all areas of the facility to determine needs
