The Arc of Greater Haverhill-Newburyport is looking for Field Staff to work directly with individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities. The successful candidate would be integral to the support team, providing coaching and encouragement on life and vocational skills in the community. The Arc of GHN is a team-oriented employer and Field Staff are supported by team members that include the family, support supervisors and program director.

The ideal candidate will be energized to think creatively and will have previous experience working with people with developmental disabilities who are community oriented. You will be a team player with strong communication and problem-solving skills. Candidates must have their own transportation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 mentoring and support
  • Role model appropriate social communication and actions
  • Collaborate with family and support supervisor to create and implement a weekly schedule of meaningful activities
  • Assist with identifying employment or volunteer leads
  • Create physical and psychological safety to foster trust and independence
  • Maintain progress documentation on the time spent together and observations
  • Spend time listening, in order to gain insight into the person’s support needs and dreams
  • Accompany the person to community-based activities, medical appointments (if asked), and job sites
  • Follow behavioral recommendations provided by the team
  • Participate in Individual Support Plan meeting

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Satisfactory background check and driving record
  • Computer Skills including experience with Microsoft office is preferred.

Part-time, Flexible Schedule

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
