Job Summary
The Northeastern State University College of Education seeks a full time Director of the newly-created, grant-funded RiverHawk Center for Teacher Excellence (RCTE Project). The position is based on the Tahlequah campus, though duties will require oversight of the RCTE Project on the Tahlequah and Broken Arrow campuses, requiring some travel to the NSU Broken Arrow campus. The RCTE Project at NSU will provide supplemental efforts to existing programs with the objective of increasing and retaining the number of well-prepared teachers from diverse backgrounds and/or bilingual, multilingual. The charge will be to recruit and retain teacher candidates (undergraduate) and teachers (graduate), thereby increasing the number of teachers who will be placed in high need local education agencies (LEAs) or hard to staff schools


Major Duties

Fiscal and overall RCTE project management
Oversee and complete performance reports and project assessments
Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners
Build partnerships with similar initiatives to streamline processes
Plan, design and implement project initiatives and activities
Interpret and implement federal, state, and university rules and regulations
Required to attend a Director’s meeting in Washington, D.C.
Perform other related duties


Knowledge Required by the Position

Work experience should demonstrate adequate knowledge of opportunities in post secondary education, federal student aid, supervision of personnel, curriculum/instruction, federal regulations, budget management, and community outreach
Minimum of three years’ experience working with diverse and/or bilingual, multilingual populations
Individual must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
Individual must be proficient in using Windows, Microsoft Office, and specialized database software such as Student Access
Preference will be given to individuals who come from a diverse and /or bilingual, multilingual background
Preference who have a background in teaching


Supervisory Controls

Supervise Project Coordinators – one full time Coordinator for the Tahlequah Campus and one full time Coordinator for the Broken Arrow campus


Work Schedule

This position is 12 months: Monday-Friday; may require traveling to other NSU campuses throughout the year for meetings


Minimum Qualifications

Education: Required Master’s degree, doctorate preferred in education, teaching, counseling or related field

Annual salary $55,000.00 with excellent benefits.
