DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This is a full time Social Service Aide position responsible for assisting professional casework staff. Among the myriad of responsibility, this position includes transportation and scheduling of appointment and visitations with clientele. Located in the Lehigh Valley, we have an ample array of social service agencies working in collaboration with our agency. Northampton County is committed to quality care and services.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:


  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

Applicants must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, and present valid proof of vaccinated status, in order to be eligible for hire with the County of Northampton. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), people are considered fully vaccinated two (2) weeks after their second dose in a 2-dose series (such as Pfizer or Moderna vaccines), or two (2) weeks after a single-dose vaccine (such as Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine). The County of Northampton will follow the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines with regard to booster(s) and when individuals are considered fully vaccinated.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a County Social Services Aide 1; or
  • Graduation from high school, or its equivalency, and two years of experience in public contact work in a human services agency which included one year of experience in interviewing and obtaining information; or
  • An associate's degree in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

  • Hiring preference for this vacancy will be given to candidates who live within Berks, Bucks, Carbon, Lehigh, Monroe, & Northampton counties. If no eligible candidates who live within these counties apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
