Salary Range: $17.00 - $21.00 / hour

JOB SUMMARY:

Behavior Intervention Staff will coordinate services for the students in the school based mental health program and provide interventions for students who struggle with emotional and behavioral difficulties throughout the school day. Staff will also be expected to contact the families weekly, participate in family nights and provide services during summer camps.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: include the following: Employee must have regular attendance/punctuality, be able to cooperate with others, and be completely honest. Other assigned duties include:

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ongoing assessment of needs.
  • Intervention for the students when they are having emotional or behavioral concerns. Mental health interventions that address symptoms, behaviors, thought processes, etc., that assist an individual in eliminating barriers to seeking or maintaining education and employment.
  • Liaison between the student and the school.
  • Providing positive reinforcement for age-appropriate behaviors.
  • Symptom monitoring and documentation of services.
  • Facilitation of social skills groups.
  • Coordination and/or assistance in crisis management and stabilization as needed.
  • Providing activities that increase the student’s capacity to positively impact his/her own environment.
  • Coordination of services with the school and family.
  • Advocacy and outreach.
  • As appropriate to the care provided to individuals, and when appropriate, to family, education and training specific to the individual’s assessed needs, abilities and readiness to learn.
  • Assistance in achieving personal independence in managing basic needs as identified by the individual and/or parent or guardian.
  • Coordination of the ISP, including services identified in the ISP, assistance with accessing natural support systems in the community, and linkages to formal community service/systems.
  • Responsibility to ensure all necessary billing information is provided for accurate bulling in a timely manner.
  • Responsibility to ensure that each youth file is accurate and contains all pertinent information.
  • Attending weekly supervision and monthly professional development, as well as summer trainings.
  • Completing all necessary paperwork.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Persons employed in positions responsible for the daily direct care or supervision of children shall be at least twenty-one years of age and possess a high school diploma or equivalency certificate. In addition to the educational requirement it is preferred that such persons shall have at least three years of full-time equivalent paid or volunteer experience in the direct provision of care to children. Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Background Investigation__ reports from clearances and background checks will be sent to Therapeutic Support Services when applicable regarding any criminal history record of the prospective employee.
  • Driver's Abstract__ this report will indicate if the prospective employee has been arrested for any type of driving offense.
  • The prospective employee must provide Therapeutic Support Services with proof of current automobile insurance.
