AMERON also offers for sale a wide variety of PMA parts related to the safety equipment it repairs.

Position Summary:


Assemble and test routine assemblies, subassemblies and final assemblies of simple to complex complexity product lines that includes but is not limited to aviation safety products such as oxygen components, fire extinguishers, and cylinders for commercial and military customers.


Reports to the Production Supervisor.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assemble and test assemblies, subassemblies, and final assemblies. Ensure activities are performed correctly and proper tooling and documentation is used.
  • Perform lockwire and nameplate, as needed.
  • Organize data and prepare test reports.
  • Proactively identifies best practices and assist in process improvements.
  • Material preparation including cleaning of surfaces with proper tooling techniques and compounds.
  • Proficient blueprints, verbal, and/or written instructions
  • Work with others to complete assemblies
  • Perform visual inspection and identify any defective items and handle according to established procedures
  • Perform cross training when required.
  • Must have the ability to utilize hand tools such as, but not limited to, pliers, wrenches, screwdrivers, arbor press, vises, soldering iron, depth micrometers, calipers, lockwire pliers, dial indicators, pressure gauges, flow meters, multimeters, test boxes or specialized test equipment as needed.
  • Adhere to operational procedures and ensure tooling is in calibration before use.
  • Maintain clean and safe work area. Adhere to all safety rules and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned. May be temporarily reassigned to cover workload in other areas of production as necessary.

Education:

High School Diploma, or GED


Experience:

  • 3-5 years’ experience in assembly manufacturing
  • 2 years’ experience in aerospace manufacturing preferred

Preferred Experience:

  • 4 years’ experience in aerospace manufacturing
  • 2 years’ assembly experience with aviation safety products
  • Soldering experience

Qualifications:

  • Ability to read assembly blueprints, wiring diagrams and testing schematics.
  • Working knowledge of shop test equipment and testing procedures and the ability to test a variety of assemblies/sub-assemblies.
  • Know-how and ability to work with inspection gages, multimeters, force scales, torque wrenches, and production test equipment.
  • Ability to work from written and verbal instructions.
  • Working knowledge of Ameron products or similar. Ability to retain knowledge of units produced.
  • Ability to cross train on a variety of assemblies.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and interact with other departments and organizations.
  • Ability to accumulate and record data to support process improvement idea(s).
  • Ability to push, pull and lift up to 50 lbs. using proper lift techniques/Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Ability to read and write English.
  • Attention to detail
  • Willing to perform repetitive tasks while sitting or standing for extended periods of time

Typical Working Conditions:

  • Work will be conducted mostly indoors in a “shop” type environment.
  • Exposure to heat or cold will mostly be limited to when walking from one building to another or if bay doors have been opened to allow for shipping and receiving activities. The use of PPE such as safety glasses and safety toed shoes are required in designated working areas.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
