JOB SUMMARY
Our Youth Sports Site Supervisors will contribute to the Y’s mission by providing a safe, non-competitive, and enjoyable sporting experience for your assigned group of aspiring athletes while teaching them individual and team game skills and rules, sportsmanship, fair play, and character values. This is accomplished through building relationships and actively engaging with parents, volunteer coaches and participants.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Cultivate relationships with youth sports participants, parents/guardians/caregivers and volunteer sports coaches.
  • Provide instruction, coaching and instructional refereeing on the respective sport.
  • Plan and prepare for class including proper set up, activities and teaching based upon established curriculum, supporting volunteer coaches with execution of program goals and a safe setting for children.
  • Maintain and monitor spaces for safety consideration and member service.
  • In the event of an emergency you will serve as a first responder (responding, reporting, and preventing).
SKILLS AND TRAINING
  • Basic understanding of the fundamental skills and coaching strategies for sports which may include basketball, soccer, t-ball, baseball, volleyball or flag football.
  • Experience in a team environment playing or leading an organized sport.
  • Experience working with groups of children ages 4-10 years of age.
  • Energetic and engaging with small group behavior management and previous coaching experience helpful.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications are required within the first 60 days of employment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule in an indoor or outdoor setting depending up on the season, that includes weekends and evenings required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
For the most part, the work is done in a recreational environment that may be indoors or outdoors depending upon the sport and season. As a safety responder, the ability to crouch, stoop, kneel, move quickly, and/or lift at least 30 pounds will be necessary. Site Supervisors are required to move sports equipment such as cones, goals and balls.

  • Safety: Adhere to and enforce safety policies and procedures for the association. You must be able to respond in a leadership role to a crisis situation as outlined in the Crisis Communication Binder.
