SUMMARY
In general, the person in this position must possess skills and abilities to work well with the public and be able to work in a timely and accurate manner. Appointed by the Superintendent of Water and approved by the Director of Public Utilities. Requires valid Arkansas driver’s license and clean driving record with proof of liability insurance.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


  • Be able to use a variety of manual and electronic meter reading equipment.
  • Be able to complete an assigned meter reading route on schedule.
  • Be able to install and repair water meters.
  • Help in determining location of water leaks.
  • May be required to assist other maintenance personnel as needed.
  • Prepare routine reports as required.
  • Wash and clean vehicles, tools and equipment.
  • Keep all tools and material in a proper manner.
  • Load and unload trucks which includes carrying heavy material such as pipe, maintenance materials, lift or move up to 50 pounds, and tools.
  • Follow all Property Owners Association (POA) policies and safety rules.
  • Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays
  • May be required to drive POA vehicle or personal vehicle while conducting POA business.
  • The ability to manage time effectively, function independently, self-supervise, and limit distractions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Regular attendance is required.


QUALIFICATIONS

COMPUTER SKILLS
Must have computer skills to perform routing task from work station computers to handhelds. Computer skills to operate workstation computer to down load from handheld to computer to copier for hard copy records.


CERTIFICATE/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS
Requires a valid Arkansas driver’s license and clean driving record with proof of liability insurance. Must hold an Arkansas Grade I Water Distribution Operator License or be able to obtain within two (2) year.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Must be 18-years of age and have a High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.


REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
