The VP of Global Talent Development and Culture (VP GTDC) reports to the SVP of Global Talent & Leadership Development and is Medtronic's key learning and development leader. This position leads a team of up to 9 direct reports and around 50 people in total around the world.

The VP GTDC is an internally and externally facing leader who will leverage a newly architected global leadership framework and will help to advance learning to the next level at Medtronic. The GTDC leader will create a strategic roadmap , building on key foundational work already in place with solutions ranging from all employees to executive leader development.

This position will enable Medtronic’s business strategies by accelerating its workforce capabilities at all levels, positioning Medtronic as a world-class and “top gun” academy company for developing leaders through executives. The VP GTDC will have a global mindset and will work collaboratively across Executive leadership, starting with the CEO, Executive Committee, CHRO, Talent Management and Leadership Development Executives, business and HR leaders, employees and external partners to promote a skilled and responsive workforce to enable Medtronic to deliver on its mission of alleviating pain, restoring health and extending life.

A Day in the Life

Provide strategic direction and operational leadership for Medtronic’s Global Talent Development and Culture organization.

Create a strategic roadmap for learning and culture capabilities, building on key foundational work in place with solutions ranging from all employees to executive leader development, partnering closely with IT to implement.

Lead team of ~50 resources supporting ~95,000 employees worldwide. Manage a direct budget of around $6M and up to $20M in chargebacks.

Acquire, retain, and develop key talent for GTDC function

Lead Medtronic’s Global Talent Development and Culture Center of Expertise. Refresh and lead the Global Learning Council. Benchmark as appropriate.

Provide strategic and operational oversight for a robust, award-winning career and leadership development portfolio including on-boarding, career development, leadership

development, coaching, and executive development.

Enable and improve enterprise employee and leader engagement through meaningful programs and signature events.

Continue to position Medtronic to attract and retain the best talent by providing framework for career development and learning at all levels.

Partner closely with CEO, CHRO, Talent Management, Executive Committee, and Leadership Advisory Panel to align enterprise strategies and business needs with Medtronic Talent Development and Culture programs.

Input to design of Global and Officer meetings

Build “top gun academies” for Executive Development

Enable Inclusive and Diverse culture and outcomes

Develop and maintain positive relationships with external vendors, partners and professional organizations; position Medtronic for external recognition in order to attract and retain the best talent.

Manager vendors and preferred partners

Directly impact Medtronic’s strategic mission by bringing Tenet 5 to life and enable Medtronic’s business strategies by accelerating its workforce capabilities at all levels,

positioning Medtronic as a world class academy company for developing leaders.

Must Have: Minimum Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree required and 15+ years professional HR experience in progressively more responsible HR positions. Experience in global environment required.


· Demonstrated experience in independently managing projects, playing a leadership role in a matrix environment, coaching and counseling employees and managers regarding work related challenges such as motivation, performance improvement and development

· Demonstrated experience in successfully translating business priorities and developing and implementing people strategies to achieve business objectives.


Nice to Have

· Advanced degree in HR highly desirable.

· Preference for candidates who have built and implemented development programs for High Potential executive employees.

· Strategic Leadership/Decision-Making/Analytical Skills – Demonstrated ability to be a strategic business leader, facilitating clients and the business overall to achieve objectives and improve effectiveness

· Drive for Results – Exceptional project management/organizational skills; ability to

manage multiple priorities; can translate business strategies into actionable people

strategies.

· Ability to market offerings and development measures for impact and value

· Building Successful Working Relationships –Strong consultative skills; ability to partner with senior leaders in multiple functions and organizations.

· Experience leading learning and/or leadership development function and teams in large, complex global environment.

The provided base salary range is used nationally in the United States (except in Puerto Rico). Base pay is based on numerous factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, etc .
