Tee-Ball/Coach-Pitch Umpires Job at City of Jefferson
The City of Jefferson is currently accepting applications for Tee-Ball/Coach-Pitch Umpires for our Parks and Recreation Department. This position will umpire 2-3 games per night usually twice a week and work about 6-8 hours per week. Games are from May 22, 2023 to June 29, 2023. The season could extend to July 20, 2023 if needed for rain make-up games. Games are 45-75 minutes each on Mon. – Thur. evenings at the North Jeff Blue & Red Ball Fields (904 4th Street) or possibly at Optimist Sports Complex (2000 Optimist Court Dr.) also.
Arrives at least fifteen minutes prior to the scheduled game time.
Checks equipment and fields for safety hazards.
Sets up and distributes required team equipment.
Enforces park and league rules.
Keeps track of game time.
Handles game related issues.
Remains unbiased while umpiring and avoids verbal contact with spectators.
Provides excellent customer service and communication skills to all patrons.
Provides a safe, fun, and enjoyable youth sporting experience for children in our community.
Approaches position as a representative of JC Parks, displays respect for the facility, participants, parents, and co-workers.
Works under the supervision of the Program Manager.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:
First Aid and CPR certification preferred.
Qualified applicants must possess a great attitude with excellent customer service and communication skills and be responsible, trustworthy, & dependable.
REQUIREMENTS:
Basic knowledge of baseball/softball required.
Must provide own navy blue, powder blue, or black collared shirt.
The pay range for this position is $15 - $20 per hour. Pay increases with years of experience.
This position does not receive insurance or other related benefits.
