Position Summary


Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc. (MEPPI) is looking for Technician I's to join our team at our Melville, NY location for our Transportation Systems Division. In this role, the incumbents will perform basic mechanical and assembly tasks for Transportation Systems Division (TSD) products.

Essential Functions
  • Perform basic mechanical assembly of TSD components and sub-assemblies according to drawings, bills of materials, procedures, check-sheets, and other work instructions.
  • Use various hand and power tools correctly and safely to assemble wire products, components and sub-assemblies.
  • Apply sealant and adhesive to products.
  • Under supervision, assist with refrigerant related tasks such as measuring, charging, and evacuating HVAC units.
  • Assist with testing of units.
  • Read and understand technical drawings, mechanical blueprints, electrical schematics, and bills of materials.
  • Perform verification of subassemblies and/or assemblies for defects by operating measurement devices and visual checking. Identify and correct defects appropriately.
  • Complete process check sheets, daily production sheets and other daily reporting and paperwork according to Company procedures.
  • Know MEPPI’s Quality, Safety and Environmental policies. Be able to fully discuss the importance of these policies and how they impact work.


Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED with 2 two years of work experience, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Mechanical ability, as demonstrated by the proper use of hand and power tools.
  • Applicable safety/operations training required to operate certain machinery and equipment (e.g., powered industrial truck and crane).
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings, mechanical diagrams, electrical schematics and bills of materials.
  • Ability to judge the quality of sub-assemblies and assemblies produced compared to established standards, drawings and instruction.
