In addition to proposal writing, the Technical Proposal Writer will work with product marketing to assist with technical product publications including user guides and training material.
The ideal candidate has a passion for engineering and writing, with a talent to make complex topics understandable to diverse audiences. The compatible candidate is detail-oriented and able to successfully manage all aspects of the proposal writing process under aggressive deadlines. The Technical Proposal Writer must be able to work both as a team member and independently to meet deadlines.
- Create and revise proposal content that is compliant, compelling, and yields maximum evaluation scores
- Work in partnership with proposal manager to review RFP and create structural response document
- Collaborate with and interview internal and external subject matter experts to generate proposal responses, using industry best practices, tools and methodologies
- Assure win themes and proof points, as provided by the capture team, are clearly written into the proposal
- Maintain repository of proposal content
- Participate in review debriefs and revise text according to feedback
- Manage document versioning and control
- Collaborate with graphics and marketing team to incorporate content to enhance proposal understanding and comprehension
- Aquire technical understanding of products
- Create, write, review, edit and publish technical documentation, user manuals, and training literature
- Strong proofreading and editorial skills with high attention to detail
- Clear and concise writing skills.
- Capacity to understand and describe technical concepts to a less technical audience
- Expert proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively
- Experience writing and editing RFP proposal content
- Familiarity with high level technology terminology sufficient for creating/editing technical content
- Knowledge of standard RFP instructions and proposal development methods
- Skilled working with virtual teams
- Able to collaborate and work in a team environment
- State, Local, or Federal Government procurement and/or RFP experience
- Training or certification in proposal writing (APMP, Shipley, etc.)
- Experience using proposal content repository systems and content generation applications a plus
- BS or BA degree in English, Marketing, Journalism, Technical Writing, Industrial Engineering, or similar discipline
- Expert level engineering comprehension
- Minimum of 5+ years related experience proposal and/or technical document writing
- U.S. or Canada Citizenship
