SUMMARY: Assists the Teacher in assessments and program planning. Assists in developing and implementing plans of care. Monitors student progress and acts as classroom leader. Supervises teacher aids in assigned rooms. Responsible for the direct and indirect care and education of children. Maintains a clean environment that is necessary for the proper care and safety of children.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following.

  • Directly supervises children at all times.
  • Interacts with children during all classroom instructional time, outdoor play, lunch, or special activity time.
  • Keeps children clean by wiping noses, faces, and hands as needed. Sends children home with clean/fully dressed appearance.
  • Maintains current certification in Infant/Toddler CPR, First Aid and infection control by attending annual courses and serves as First Responder for Preschool.
  • Will be responsible for conducting weekly staff meetings. Actively participates in monthly and annual staff meetings as arranged by supervisor.
  • Participates in minimum 15 hours in-house and/or outside Early Childhood training annually as required, including out-of-town/overnight travel as required. A minimum of 30 hours must be acquired annually if in an ABC/ABCSS classroom.
  • Follows FCC Policy/Procedures manual and minimum licensing requirements for child care centers at all times. Abides by FCC Code of Conduct at all times. Complies with all DHS regulations contained within DHS Handbook.
  • Stays informed of child's record information to ensure only authorized persons pick up child.
  • Reports any abuse/neglect signs to a supervisor as soon as possible after discovery.
  • Maintains DHS, ABC and DDS staff/child ratios during Daycare/Dayhab hours; reports out of ratio to Supervisor immediately.
  • Oversees implementation of plans of care and maintains accurate/complete daily Progress Notes on assigned children. Follows data collection procedure and ensures that each childs documentation is completed the same day as services are rendered.
  • Collects Work Sampling/ Ounce data on ABC/ABCSS children and maintains portfolios on all ABC/ABCSS children.
  • Conducts a minimum of two parent teacher conferences with ABC/ABCSS children annually
  • Enters all Work Sampling/Ounce data in to databased system.
  • Ensures required documentation is completed accurately and timely including Field Trip forms, Accident reports, Incident reports, Adaptive Equipment reports, daily reports, timecards, Child
  • Abuse/Neglect forms, expense forms, cuddlegrams, potty logs, lunch count, marks reports, BIRs, fridge log, MARs, monthly height/weight charts, etc.
  • Oversees development, preparation and implementation of weekly lesson plans in accordance to the approved curriculum. Ensures schedules and lesson plans are posted and reviewed with staff.
  • Assists in field trip activities as needed.
  • Actively participates in implementation of Early Childhood Environmental Rating Scale and/or Infant Toddler Environmental Rating Scale, maintaining minimum four rating at all times. A rating of 5 must be maintained if in an ABC/ABCSS classroom.
  • Attends parent functions as scheduled.
  • Uses positive disciplinary/classroom management techniques according to DHS regulations and FCC guidelines.
  • Works safely by following Infection Control guidelines at all times.
  • Ensures diapering procedure and hand washing procedures are followed by all staff each day.
  • Keeps children's bathroom clean. Keeps diaper changing area neat/clean (away from food preparation areas). Uses bleach water to clean changing table after each use.
  • Assists in keeping room refrigerator clean. Responsible for food labeling/disposal and fridge log.
  • Assures room ready for childrens arrival each morning.
  • Assists in room pick up/cleaning as needed.
  • Cleans up spills as occur and sweeps floors as needed.
  • Sanitizes toys as needed by spraying with bleach/water combination and wiping clean.
  • Places harder-to-clean toys in bleach/water solution (1/4 bleach to 1 gallon water).
  • Helps clean walls, doorknobs, and light switches with appropriate chemicals as needed.
  • Shares laundry responsibilities as scheduled by supervisor.
  • Provides feeding assistance to children as needed. Follows parent/doctor instructions concerning feedings (staying within DHS guidelines unless requested on doctors note).
  • Greets parents, children, and other staff in pleasant manner upon arrival/departure.
  • Records childrens arrival/departure times.
  • Conducts scheduled activities including music, gym time, outdoor playtime, library and other special times as noted by classroom schedule.
  • Works cooperatively with parents/staff members to ensure positive, productive atmosphere.
  • Assists children entering/exiting buses/cars daily if assigned and/or as needed.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned to the position. Example: Before care, after care, back up bus driver/rider, etc.
  • Will follow chain of command at all times by reporting to immediate supervisor for all issues.
  • Will abide by HIPAA at all times. Information concerning children in assigned classroom will not be discussed with anyone other than a supervisor.
  • Will actively participate in Ambassador training, coaching and mentoring for new employees.
  • Maintains current AR drivers license. This is a safety sensitive position.


Maintains confidentiality of all information received regarding Friendship Community Care, Inc., Senior Center programs, and clients. Conditions of confidentiality shall be in compliance with Friendship Community Care Non-Disclosure Policy and HIPAA Policies.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High School diploma and or GED preferred; preferably with one to three months experience and or training; or equivalent combination of both education and experience.


LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in oneonone and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.


REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • The Code of Conduct and Compliance Investigation Procedures as read and discussed in the new employee training must be followed at all times.
  • Consumers progress notes be maintained and completed daily or as needed on the prescribed forms.
  • Consumers records must be maintained weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly. All information must be filed in consumers records as needed and updated as prescribed by funding sources.
