PRIMARY JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Physically lifts and removes incoming material weighing up to 60 pounds form tractor trailers (items such as large boxes, coils of wire, insulators, etc.) before transporting them to their proper storage locations via forklift truck.

Again, physically lifts and moves the material to place it in its proper storage location.

When "picking" material orders for outgoing shipments to the district storerooms, the material must be physically removed from its storage location and placed in containers, or on pallets, before loading onto tractor-trailer.

In addition to the use of forklift trucks used to pick up and load/unload coils of wore (which weigh upwards to 200 pounds), a certain amount of physical maneuvering is required to position the coil/s before utilizing the forklifts. This is a very common procedure performed routinely throughout the Material Handlers workday.

When loading materials onto our rotating boom truck, reels of wire or PVC straps with binders must be pulled tight to secure the load in order to keep it from sliding off the truck.

There are additional physical duties required or the position, although they are required to be performed on a less frequent basis than the daily duties listed above; may be occasionally called upon to pull 100 foot lengths of wire off reels and empty 55 gallon trash drums.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

Experience demonstrating skill operating various type of equipment designed for entering, retrieving and processing information related to Stores, such as computers.

Success completion of qualification testing (SASS Test)


Experience demonstrating skill operating automotive equipment, forklift and other mechanical equipment used in the stores department.


Ability and willingness to perform a second role in accordance with PHI's Emergency Preparedness Guidelines for all employees.

PREFERREDS:

Two years experience with this Company or other training OR experience acceptable to this Company.

Ability and willingness to work extra and/or irregular hours.
