Physical Demands

o Physical Effort: Small engine technicians constantly work on machines in the shop; which requires physical demands on a daily basis. They must be able to move on/under machines to perform repairs and services. They often have to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds repeatedly without assistance. There will be occasions where small engine technicians must operate vehicles and equipment used for diagnostic purposes as well. They frequently stand for long periods of time and often kneel, bend, lay on their backs, etc. to perform repairs, services, and/or maintenance.

o Working Conditions: Small Engine Technicians are constantly working in the repair shop to perform their tasks and duties. Work is performed on even surfaces on a hard floor in the shop. There is exposure to dirt, grease, fumes, cuts, bruises, strains, loud noises, etc. To combat these potential dangers and risk hazards, Small Engine Technicians must follow strict safety procedures, proper equipment safety, and PPE.

o Travel: Little to none.

Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality is vital. Must attend work regularly and to arrive at work on time. Failure to do so detrimentally affects team morale and productivity.

Further, you have the ability to collaborate and build relationships with coworkers, customers, and vendors, with excellent interpersonal skills.
