A job is available in the Southern Division Supply Operations for a Senior Plant Operator. Applicant must be able to work Monday-Friday from 7:00am to 3:30pm, will be required to operate and maintain the Putnam centrifuge, cover shift work at the Putnam WTP, must be available to work overtime and will be required to work in the stand-by rotation. Candidates should have four (4) years experience in the operation and maintenance of supply, pumping, and treatment facilities or comparable experience and as a minimum possess a high school diploma. Applicant must understand the fundamental and applied knowledge of water treatment processes including coagulation, clarification, filtration, oxidation, and disinfection and the ability to operate our dewatering centrifuge and water treatment plants. A CT Class IV water treatment plant operator certification is required for this position.

  • Perform general plant maintenance and housekeeping.
  • Plan and coordinate maintenance activities on all equipment associated with facility.
  • Maintain, operate, and adjust gatehouse valves, screens, grates, reservoirs and related appurtenance.
  • Operate and troubleshoot electrical and electronic equipment such as controllers, automatic monitors, recorders, and standby power systems.
  • Monitor and operate treatment plant and distribution facilities PLC based control and data acquisition system.
  • Collect water samples and perform chemical and physical laboratory testing such as turbidity, pH, and UV254 ; review and interpret information and data with Chief Operator to ensure water quality and resolve process control issues.
  • Maintain, operate, and adjust centrifuge, treatment plant pumps, motors, chemical feed systems and other equipment under general direction of Chief Operator to assure optimum plant performance.
  • Must possess a working knowledge and understanding of mechanical and/or electrical systems.
  • Insures all activities are in compliance with company and regulator mandated procedures, rules, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Operate a diverse assortment of mechanical and electrical tools, including test and calibration equipment, pneumatic tools, cutting, hand, and power tools.
