This position will be based at the new and innovative acute care behavioral health facility, currently under construction and slated to open in the fall of 2023. SummitStone has the privilege of partnering closely with Larimer County on this venture. This voter-approved facility will provide licensed, equitable and culturally relevant care and treatment to individuals in crisis with mental health and/or substance use disorders. This facility will serve anyone residing in Larimer County in need of urgent intervention. We Embrace Diversity:
Serves SummitStone Health Partners in a leadership role to assist Medical Directors with managerial and nursing programs to meet the behavioral health needs of our clients or consumers. Supervises all nursing and medical support team members supporting our residential/inpatient settings. Ensures that nursing service lines are standardized across sites, identifies opportunities for administrative efficiencies, and works to streamline nursing workflows to maximize capacity. This position will also oversee the implementation of new nursing projects, service lines, and/or treatment sites. Uses depth and breadth of nursing management knowledge to ensure the provision of high quality, safe, and cost-effective client care. Demonstrates nursing expertise and oversees the leadership of clinical, financial, and personnel management of the assigned areas. Provides leadership across acute facilities and helps to prepare our teams for new and emerging treatments and/or service array changes.

Essential Duties:

  • Supervises all nursing and medical support staff for inpatient/residential settings.
  • Serves as a resource person to program staff, including the Acute Leadership teams.
  • Manages and facilitates client centered nursing care by serving as a real-time nursing expert for unit staff and physicians for escalated problem-solving on patients, processes, family or systems issues.
  • Co-Manages operations of the unit, including scheduling, to ensure smooth and efficient client care management and resource utilization.
  • Co-Manages large single unit or multiple units to ensure excellent client care. Actively develops leadership of entry level nurse manager(s) while leading clinical improvement initiatives. Internal customers include patients, staff, and physicians. External customers include patient family.
  • Ensures accurate records and reporting for all grants/contracts assigned.
  • Gathers data and prepares a variety of reports to assist with evaluating services, capacity and in response to state inquiries or regulations.
  • Contributes to organization Continuous Quality Improvement process to identify, analyze, and trend quality issues related to overall patient care; collaborates to identify and implement successful solutions.
  • Maintain close and cooperative relationships with community agencies and other public agencies in carrying out the mission of the organization.
  • Assists to drive policy and procedure changes when necessary for program improvement.
  • Collaborate with staff to improve processes and procedures consistent with goals of continuous quality improvement team. Coaches staff and management through necessary changes.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to emerging leaders in the organization.
  • Evaluate staff performance for all direct reports; address performance issues, resolve conduct and ethical issues; carries out disciplinary action when needed. Provide technical assistance, training and coaching in clinical and administrative areas. Continually rewards and recognizes staff and develops staff. Develops and fosters team values with staff.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to provide assessment, and protocol-driven treatment and case management in routine and crisis situations.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret related professional periodicals, journals, technical procedures or government regulations.

  • Knowledge of federal, state and local regulations regarding delivery and documentation of behavioral health services.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BSN or MSN required for all new hires. BSN required for internal transfers/promotions within 6 months of transfer/promotion.
  • Requires a current RN license in state of practice. Requires BLS certification.
  • 5-7 years of directly relevant experience in nursing, the Mental Health Field, Substance Use Disorder Field or program of application in a leadership role, 3-5 years’ minimum experience in a supervisory role (nursing/administrative); experience with mild to severe mental illness and substance use disorders.
  • Requires critical thinking, communication, influence, decision-making, analytical, and flexibility skills to make optimal decisions based on multiple variables and desired outcomes.
  • Must have the ability to practice skills according to department and professional standards and quality requirements.
  • Experience in program development and managing clinical/nursing projects.

Education & Licensure:
  • Valid Colorado drivers license
  • Driving record that meets with hiring requirements as set forth for someone that must transport clients/customers.

Physical Demands:
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25lbs with or without accommodation.
  • May require engagement via zoom or other digital technology for extended periods.
  • Must be able to travel between agency and partner organization locations.
Wage Ranges:
Range is $83,500 - $100,200 annual salary.
