Senior Engineer - Construction

PSI, an Intertek company, is searching for a Senior Engineer to join our Building & Construction team in our Houston, Texas office. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow a versatile career in the architectural, engineering, and construction (A/E/C) industry!

How you’ll make an impact at Intertek:

  • Performs a variety of assignments that include independent evaluations using standard techniques, procedures and criteria, using engineering judgment to make minor adoptions and modifications during the course of work
  • Makes decisions and recommendations in reference to test report results, project field circumstances and inspections
  • Prepares and reviews inspection and testing reports, project procedural plans and specifications prepared by others
  • Assigns work /tasks to staff as applicable
  • Prepares scopes, budgets, and schedules for task assignments
  • Reviews recommendations with Principal Consultant and/or Quality Manager
  • Maintains and leverages client relationships and develops new project opportunities
  • Attends client site meetings
  • Communicates effectively with client and project teams
  • Trains Technicians and other technical staff
  • May perform on-site observations, sample collection, and specific tests and/or inspections
  • May work both in the field and laboratory regularly
  • Must be aware of, and adhere to, safety practices and policies to ensure your own safety, as well as the safety of others who may be affected by your actions at work

What it takes to be successful in this role:

  • Bachelor's Degree from accredited engineering /ABET school.
  • 8+ years' of experience is required
  • Texas P.E. License is required
  • Obtain Principal Consultant status internally (CS 8 years' experience)
  • Effective communication skills (written, verbal and listening) and solid interpersonal skills are required
  • Ability to work off shifts and overtime

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, move, push and pull 30 to 50 pounds frequently. Occasionally, over 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, (hearing) and to make the discriminations in sound.
  • Ability to kneel and squat occasionally
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions (hot and cold)
  • Ability to climb occasionally

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $85,000.00 - $145,000.00 per year
