Overview:
The Senior Corporate Accountant is responsible for the accounting and financial reporting functions of Nationwide Children?s Hospital, Inc. (NCH). This position coordinates the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statement close process for the corporation and prepares related financial reports. It also prepares the annual tax filings for the not-for-profit entities of Nationwide Children's Hospital, Inc. This position is heavily involved in ensuring that the financial statements and not-for-profit tax filings of the corporation are compliant with relevant accounting guidance and tax regulations.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements of Nationwide Children's Hospital, Inc., and verifies the accuracy of the statements.
  • Applies generally accepted accounting principles in preparation of statements.
  • Coordinates the monthly financial reporting for all entities included in the consolidated financial statements with the appropriate personnel.
  • Provides analysis and information as requested by senior management regarding information reported on a consolidated basis.
  • Coordinates reconciliation of inter-company accounts with appropriate personnel. Prepares financial statement entries to eliminate inter-company transactions and balances.
  • Prepares schedules and supporting documentation as requested by external auditors relating to the consolidated financial statements. Assists Accounting Manager in coordinating annual external audit.
  • Prepares consolidated annual tax filing for Nationwide Children's Hospital and selected affiliates.
  • Works with external tax consultants, NCH management and Finance staff members to develop accounting and reporting processes that facilitate reporting in accordance with IRS regulations.
  • Actively participates in the evaluation and implementation of accounting and tax requirement changes as appropriate.
  • Prepares tax related workpapers associated with annual external audit of financial statements.
  • Prepares journal entries, account reconciliations, and audit schedules as needed for areas of responsibility.
  • Participates in the annual performance review process for selected positions.
  • Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or in Business Administration with a major in Accounting
  • Three to five years of general accounting and computerized general ledger experience with healthcare or not-for-profit industry experience preferred
  • Three to five years of not-for-profit tax reporting experience, with healthcare industry experience preferred;
  • Active CPA certification
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Access or other similar database application
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;? Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Minimum Physical Requirements:
  • Sitting (daily)
  • Viewing computerized and written information and records (daily)
  • Hand, finger, and wrist dexterity sufficient for typing and handling the PC's mouse (daily)
  • Speaking and listening in person and over the phone (daily)
