Roof Inspector Job at NOVA Engineering & Environmental

We are currently seeking a Roofing Inspector for our Kennesaw Georgia office, which serves the Atlanta metropolitan statistical area (MSA). Primary duties will include performing structural building inspections on roofs of various construction types, waterproofing systems, air barriers, and other similar systems designed to protect against water and air intrusion into buildings. Some travel may be required. The position will be predominately field located.

Essential Functions

For this position the employee will be providing quality control testing and IBC special inspection duties for commercial, retail, educational, low to high-rise, manufacturing, etc. construction projects. Successful candidates must perform on site observations/inspections to confirm compliance with the local building code and project contract documents, collect samples per ASTM & project requirements, perform specific QC tests on construction materials and building components per ASTM, ACI, etc. standards, and maintain detail records of observations, inspections and test results. Work is generally performed unsupervised (i.e. employee is in the field as the Company’s representative) but under the direction of a Professional Engineer or Project Manager.

Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Education

  • Registered Roof Observer (RRO) certification preferred
  • Skilled in use of non-destructive test equipment for roof and building envelope systems
  • 2+ years experience performing inspections & tests
  • High School diploma or equivalent education
  • Adept at reading and understanding plans & specifications
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Extensive experience working with contractors
  • A sound working knowledge of local building codes
  • Valid State Driver’s license with clean driving record

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements

  • 95+% Field Assignments
