Overview

We are seeking to hire a highly motivated research technician with enthusiasm in wet-lab science, who will support and lead cancer genomic research projects. The successful candidate will join the team of Prof. Brad Bernstein working primarily with postdoctoral researchers Dr. Alba Rodriguez-Meira and Dr. James Morrow, and will assist with general lab management when needed. This role also includes collaboration opportunities with partner laboratories in the Boston area.

As a research technician in the Bernstein Laboratory, you will receive mentored training in wet-lab science, have the opportunity to attend scientific retreats and conferences, give Journal Club presentations and present your work at weekly lab meetings amongst others.

Responsibilities

We seek a dynamic individual (bachelor’s level minimum) who is excited to learn and apply a diverse range of wet lab approaches at the interface between single-cell technologies and cancer research. The candidate will work on projects focused on cancer epigenetics; specifically, the use of single-cell epigenomic technologies and CRISPR-Cas9 editing to better understand epigenetic mechanisms driving cancer evolution

Qualifications

Expected skills and expertise:

The candidate should have practical experience in a molecular biology laboratory. Experience with PCR, DNA/RNA extraction, CRISPR-Cas9, next-generation sequencing and/or primary cell culture are desired.

Bachelor’s degree required: in biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, or related subject.

Expertise with Microsoft Excel is essential.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Excellent organizational skills and ability to execute project plans with guidance from supervisor.
