Idaho National Laboratory’s (INL) Specific Manufacturing Capability (SMC) Quality group is seeking forward-thinking professionals interested in exploring a career as a Quality Assurance Engineer! Our team works an on-site 4x10 schedule located at our SMC facility with every Friday off!

Responsibilities Include:

Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer to provide Quality Engineering support to the Specific Manufacturing Capability (SMC) facility. SMC is a focused manufacturing facility encompassing Fabrication, Welding, Machining, and Assembly operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Support SMC Plant Operations in the areas of production operations, capital project design and new equipment commissioning.
  • Develop, maintain, and issue inspection plans.
  • Lead and mentor quality inspectors to implement standard processes in all inspection activities.
  • Maintain working knowledge of applicable codes and standards, implementing quality requirements into SMC inspection plans.
  • Monitor/audit SMC’s supply chain to ensure compliance with specified criteria.
  • Identify and implement process improvements in SMC operations.
  • Identify quality issues and participate on multi-functional teams to implement corrective actions.
  • Engage in applying/leading Quality tools.
  • Ensure implementation of INL Quality Requirements.
  • Provide statistical data analysis and reporting.
  • Participate in cause analysis and development of corrective actions.
  • Conducts audit, assessment, and surveillance activities to find opportunities to improve compliance and performance.
  • Conduct quality program reviews for SMC activities to assure adequate quality requirements are identified and incorporated; establish protocol for inspection basis and nonconformance conditions.
  • Develop quality assurance planning documents implementing BEA Quality Program engineering principles for SMC project.
  • Review and approve SMC Programs procurement actions to ensure appropriate implementation of quality program requirements.
  • Perform inspection services to support various projects and work at SMC.

QUALIFICATIONS


Minimum Requirements:

  • Level 2- Bachelor of Science degree plus 2 years relevant experience or Advanced degree and 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Level 3- Bachelors of Science degree plus 5 years relevant experience or Advanced degree and 3 year of relevant experience.
  • Degree must be in a technical field (Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering)
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
  • Relevant experience includes Fabrication, Machining & Assembly processes.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing and print interpretation.
  • Must be able to acquire a complete understanding and knowledge of quality management concepts and practices
  • Be thoroughly familiar with quality assurance codes, standards, and regulations as they apply to the SMC facility operations.
  • Must have a working knowledge of technical and practical side to quality engineering.
  • Capable of obtaining BEA Quality Engineer qualification (QLQAENG I).
  • Capable of obtaining INL Radworker II qualification.

Job Information

  • Salary Grade 190 ($70,680 - $116,616) / Salary Grade 210 ($93,492 - $154,212)

  • TDP: Testing designated position; It will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of employment.
