Main Role of Position: To provide support to the Purchasing Manager and the Company by researching best prices for materials, ensuring timely deliveries to project sites, and maintaining a professional and good relationship with vendors and suppliers.
Position Reports to: Purchasing Manager
GENERAL DUTIES:
- Assist Purchasing Manager in efficiently running the Purchasing Department by streamlining the material ordering process
- Research the best prices and selection of materials to increase profitability and reduce overall construction costs
- Oversee and follow-up on material order workflow from start to finish
- Oversee and follow-up on purchase orders, shipping schedules and maintaining purchase records
- Inspect materials to make sure nothing is damaged. If anything is damaged materials need to be returned right away and credit needs to be provided to Accounting
- Maintain and build professional relationships with Vendors and Suppliers
- Follow-up with Vendors and Suppliers as needed, monitoring their performance
- Work with Construction Team to compare deliveries with purchase orders, identify discrepancies
- Work with Construction Team to confirm shipping deadlines
- Issue Vendor Packets
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
- Organized, detail oriented, efficient and able to balance and prioritize numerous projects
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, processes and equipment
- Excellent communication skills & strong attention to details
- Understanding of Excel
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- 2+ years’ experience with ordering construction materials
- Experience in working with vendors and suppliers
- Must have a clean driving record
- Must be able to lift at least 55 lbs
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE HOWEVER NOT REQUIRED
- Experience in detailed tile ordering for construction builds
- 2 Year Associate Degree
- Spanish speaking
SALARY RANGE: $50K - $55K DOE
