The Purchasing Agent works closely with Corporate, Engineering, and R&D teams to purchase goods, materials, and services to identify needs and match supplier’s solutions while assuring that operational needs are met. We look for you to establish, develop, and maintain the supplier relationship and performance to meet corporate targets.


WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:


  • Perform a variety of transactional work in SAP-based procurement application for a wide variety of goods and services; convert purchase requisitions into purchasing orders and to submit them on behalf of employees, placing orders on vendor websites, change PO’s, enter goods receipts, communicate status with stakeholders, etc.
  • Participate in negotiations and use creative ways to drive Value Based Sourcing and assist in the implementation and expansion of payment terms.
  • Support sourcing decisions in close collaboration with Corporate, R&D and Engineering.
  • Analyze engineering and R&D requirements and communicate requirements to the suppliers.
  • Conducting research on potential products, vendors and services and comparing price and quality to ensure the best deal.
  • Draft and prepare quotations, other standard agreements, and approvals in line with internal procedures.
  • Negotiate order quantities and prices with suppliers for fledgling projects with shifting deadlines.
  • Develop and retain strong supplier relationships and manage partnerships with cross functional teams and internal stakeholders.
  • Guide employees through the procurement process to ensure compliance to all company guidelines and purchasing policies and procedures.
  • Maintains price lists, controls files, and monitor vendor and carrier performance records in accordance to purchasing standards.
  • Working closely with the accounting team to ensure invoices and bills are paid on time.
  • Support company-wide procurement processes in supplier selection, contract and product/service change negotiations, and business performance reviews.
  • Leverage reminders and tasks to follow up on open issues and manage multiple priorities.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:


  • 5+ years of experience in a procurement/buyer role with a strong preference for those that have worked in a development and/or R&D environment.
  • The role requires a candidate that has a balance of technical and administrative skills. The preferred candidate will be organized, have excellent SAP skills (preferably in procurement), experience in customer service, excellent written and oral communication skills, and basic to intermediate skills in accounts payable.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand Engineering technical specifications.
  • Must have strong digital foundation and be able to pick up software systems quickly.
  • Knowledge and experience relating to documentation, logistics, insurance, packing, customs brokers and freight for domestic and international transactions.
  • A high degree of ownership of procurement, the ability to adapt to issues as they arise, and provide solutions.

The base pay range for this role is $65,000 to $85,000. Actual pay depends on various factors, such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills.
