Prospect Research Contractor

The Hayes Approach has partnered with the SC Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities Foundation (the foundation) to recruit a fundraising contractor to work with the foundation for a duration of approximately 5 months. The Governor’s School Foundation is a statewide organization that serves South Carolina’s most promising young artists. We are located in beautiful Falls Park on the Reedy River in downtown Greenville.

The contractor will execute the fundraising efforts of the organization focusing on the following scope for approximately 5 months:

● Support the interim executive director in researching and identifying 30-40 corporate prospects from across the state with the goal of building strong relationships and an understanding of their philanthropic priorities as they align with the foundation

● Identify connections between the foundation and school board members, senior leaders, and donors/prospects

● Set up informational meetings and/ or campus tours with prospects for the interim executive director

● Prepare meeting materials

● Set up and manage a prospect moves management system

● Enter prospects and any research information into the donor database as needed

● Draft proposals for the interim executive director

Skills and Attributes:

We are looking for a candidate with the following characteristics:

● Has experience raising funds and enjoys the process of figuring out how to help clients/donors meet their needs while supporting yours.

● Has a knack for finding creative solutions to everyday challenges.

● Fast-paced and detail-oriented, bringing a passion for making things work well and an ability to handle a large volume of work by prioritizing the most impactful tasks while keeping other tasks on track.

● An excellent communicator and collaborator who values the diverse perspectives of many constituents and can manage across lines of difference by quickly gaining trust and rapport through warmth, curiosity, humility, optimism, and humor.

● Passionate about the arts and/or public education.

● Has a knack for executing detail-oriented tasks and seeing the finished results quickly.

Qualifications: Three or more years of experience in a fund development role with a track record of success.
