Performs project tasks related to technology and programming operations for both student and scholar teams in the Office of International Student and Scholar Services (OISS). Responsible for all aspects of admission and immigration projects over the entire project cycle (initiate, plan, execute, control, close). Coordinates the activities of the team by becoming familiar with the system scope and project objectives as well as the role and function of each team member. The position will advise new international students and scholars, support immigration processing, and new student/scholar orientations. This role will work with stakeholders across campus to support facilities, event operations and serve as a backup for advisors.

Specific Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning

  • Coordinate and track the initiation, planning and execution of Information Technology (IT) and related virtual and physical infrastructure projects in support of organizational area's strategic objectives and ongoing operations.

Administration

  • Communicates project status, decisions, updates, revisions and changes to all stakeholders facilitating decision-making and project progress.
  • Assists in planning, estimating and scheduling project work and supports monitoring and reporting of project progress.
  • Gathers and tracks tasks and deliverables to ensure timelines, milestones and goals are met.
  • Manages meeting documentations, schedules, communication (email) records, meeting agendas, minutes and status reports.
  • Administers and maintains organizational area’s project management tool and repositories.

Development

  • Coordinates and performs testing, ensuring functionality and whether specifications are met before passing on to customers; documents testing procedures and results.

Performance

  • Audits development procedures and progress.
  • Communicates potential problems to project managers so that solutions and prevention strategies are implemented.

Miscellaneous

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in a major such as computer science, information technology, or related; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to meet the Department of Homeland Security requirements to be a Designated School Official and Alternate Responsible Office.

Preferred Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities)

  • DSO/ RO experience with significant experience in batching, other third-party system, or RTI reporting
  • Experience advising students and/or scholars
  • Master’s Degree
  • 3+ years’ experience with hands-on batching or a third-party reporting system(s)
  • Significant experience in interpreting regulations related to international student and/or scholar status
  • Experience working with individuals from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds
