Job Summary
Be a key player on Kan’s evolving production team, responsible for making Chinese herbal formulas based on recipes that are thousands of years old. Education and Experience
We all learn in daily life and there are many ways to learn. Formal education is not required for candidates in this role.

Knowledge
Not required, but bonus points for applicants who have familiarity with a dietary supplement or food manufacturing environment, FDA-regulated manufacturing, batch production records and/or master manufacturing records, QA/QC documentation, cleaning logs, etc.

Desired Skills (not required, but desirable)

• BPRs- Understanding of equipment and BPRs
• Equipment Maintenance- Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
• Repairing- Repairing machines or systems using the needed tools, with guidance from management.Formulation: Build formulas by weighing and bagging ingredients according to the MBR. Find and pull the necessary boxes of herbs for each formula from the warehouse and restock when finished. Clean and sanitize formulation area between builds.

Job Duties
Mill prep and operation: Clean and sanitize mill, mill room, and milling tools, and obtain a swab for the QC department to test. Assemble mill and operate until product meets specification in BPR. Record all steps on cleaning logs and BPR. Move product to holding area.

Blending: Clean and sanitize blender room, blender and tools. Obtain sign off and swab from QC dept. Load product into blender and operate for specified amount of time. Record all steps in cleaning logs and BPR. Move product to holding area.

Bagging/Boxing: Transfer product from large holding container to smaller bags by using scooper, for purposes of extraction or autoclave. Or transfer product into boxes for shipping. Weigh each bag and fill out BPR. Clean and sanitize bagging room and fill out cleaning log, obtain QC signatures. Maintain identifying labels throughout procedure. Move boxes to a pallet for shipping.

Autoclaving: Load autoclave with previously bagged herb or formula. Operate boiler and autoclave for specified amount of time and proper temperature and pressure. Record time, temperature and bag weights in BPR. Transfer autoclaved material to boxes and move to the cooling room, record weights again.

Extraction: Cook, press, distill and centrifuge liquid formulas. Record all processes in BPR and obtain QC approval at each step. Receive finished formulas by transferring to storage container and labeling appropriately.

Daily Cleaning: At end of shift all Production staff perform end of day cleaning per daily cleaning log and return completed log to Production Manager

Must be able to frequently lift 50 pounds with overhead reach.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
