**Job Summary
This position will be part of the leadership team starting up our new facility in Stoughton, WI.
The Production Manager oversees the 24-hour packaging operations of a food processing facility. Areas of responsiblity include production yield, product quality, food safety, staffing, labor efficiency, resource (raw material) efficiency, and employee safety.
**Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Operations

  • Provides adequate direction to supervisors, leads and line employees to operate an efficient, safe and food safety compliant operation.
  • Develops, monitors, and tracks departmental KPI’s and takes appropriate action to support overall company goals.
  • Records and tracks all production downtime and implements corrective action as required.
  • Monitors inventories, production utilizations, operational efficiencies, and waste to control operational costs.
  • Ensures operational adherence to the production planning schedule
  • Establishes and monitors standard crewing levels by operational function.
  • Provides leadership support as needed for the facility shipping operations.
  • Implements ideas for process improvement including soliciting and supporting process improvements suggested by others.
  • Responsible for the implementation and continuation of new practices, processes and procedures.
  • Promotes and particpates in Emmi Operational Excellence throughout the facility
  • Partners with the maintenance team to coordinate maintenance activities.
  • Establishes and conducts regular department and supervisor meetings to communicate key metrics, production updates, and important communications
  • Reviews and monitors monthly operations budget and discuss budget overruns with plant manager and devise and implement resolution measures
  • Assists in preparation of annual operation budgets and capital expenditures for plant operations in order to achieve budgets, under the guideance of the plant manager

Safety

  • Ensures that employees work safely and that any unsafe work conditions are corrected immediately to prevent workplace injuries.
  • Leads and promotes programs to support a proactive safety culture

Quality

  • Works with the Quality Assurance Manager to develop and support quality systems
  • Ensures compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and other food safety guidelines
  • Provides oversight of plant and production sanitation activities.
  • Adheres to ERU food safety policies and all government food safety and sanitation regulations (ex. FDA, HACCP, GMP, OSHA)

People

  • Coaches, motivates, and engages employees in all aspects of operations to support the Emmi culture
  • Resolves employee relations issues
  • Mentors and develops leadership talent within the organziation

Qualifications / Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of educationand experience strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a leadership role in a manufacturing environment
  • Must have demonstrated experience of developing leaders
  • Food manufacturing experience preferred
  • Proven leadership, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communcation skills, with the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of supervisors and employees
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, manuals and instructions
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Detail-oriented nature and ability to adapt to change
  • Ability to calculate using whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and percentages
  • Proficient with ERP systems, MicroSoft Office, JD Edwards
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize under pressure
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams
