    SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT

    The Poquonock Summer Enrichment Teacher will organize and manage the IN-PERSON Elementary Summer School and Enrichment Programs July 10 - August 3 (excluding Fridays). The Poquonock Summer Enrichment Teacher is responsible for the administration of the in-person Elementary Summer Learning and Enrichment Programs, including planning and coordination, program implementation, attendance, student and staff support as needed.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Attend a mandatory training
    • Must work the entire program in-person and report 15 minutes prior to start of program and remain up to 15 minutes after

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Foster a safe and positive school climate
    • Collaborate to promote clear expectations, well-defined channels of communication and relationships between students, staff, parents/guardians.
    • Coordinate the implementation of the all POQ summer programs
    • Organize and schedule student activities including lunch
    • Support school administrator and oversee staff and students attendance
    • Prepare summer school reports as required by Federal/state regulations or Board of Education policies.
    • Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Services and/or your building administrator.

    NOTE: The above description is illustrative of tasks and responsibilities. It is not meant to be all inclusive of every task or responsibility. Summer school personnel must be able to work the entire program time. No vacation or personal time will be granted.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiates instruction based upon student learning styles
    • Knowledge of elementary school curriculum and concepts
    • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students
    • Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed
    • Ability to organize and coordinate IN-PERSON summer school and summer enrichment programs
    • Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents

    Qualifications:

    • Connecticut Teacher Certification required
    • Experience facilitating summer school preferred
    • Satisfactory attendance/performance

    Education

    • Bachelors from an accredited college or university in Elementary or Secondary Education or related discipline applicable to teaching assignment

    Reports To

    • The Instructional Services Department
