Job Summary
This Physician Assistant will be responsible for:
  • Seeing outpatient consults, providing IV conscious sedation, as well as first and second assisting in the OR.
  • Supporting the Plastic Surgeons and Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons
  • Administer IV conscious sedation, including IV placement, peri-, intra-and post-procedural assessment and monitoring of patients undergoing IV sedation in the office based setting
  • Provide comprehensive healthcare services to patients of all ages and with all types of conditions
  • Elicit histories, perform examinations, order and interpret diagnostic studies, instruct and counsel patients about their diagnosis
  • All aspects of pre-operative and post-operative care, as well as first or second assisting during surgery
  • Facilitate the appropriate referral of patients, consistent with his or her supervising physician’s scope of expertise and responsibility and delegated to him/her by the supervising physician
  • Working 40 hours per week between the Boston and Waltham locations, with the possibility of travel to other satellite locations

To qualify, you must have:
  • Master’s degree from a Physician Assistant Program
  • Current Massachusetts Physician Assistant License
  • ACLS, PALS, and BLS certification (will provide training if not already certified)
  • Previous experience as a Physician Assistant in a clinical setting and operating room strongly preferred
  • A strong interest in and understanding of the Plastic & Oral Surgery disciplines
  • Ability to travel to Boston Children’s Hospital satellite locations
  • Flexibility and ability to work in a collaborative atmosphere
  • Work requires the analytical skills to resolve highly complex problems requiring the application of clinical, scientific or technical principles, theories and concepts and in-depth, cross-functional experience-based knowledge
  • Work requires communication skills to effectively deal with conflicting views or issues and medicated fair solutions, and well-developed writing skills
