This Physician Assistant will be responsible for:
- Seeing outpatient consults, providing IV conscious sedation, as well as first and second assisting in the OR.
- Supporting the Plastic Surgeons and Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons
- Administer IV conscious sedation, including IV placement, peri-, intra-and post-procedural assessment and monitoring of patients undergoing IV sedation in the office based setting
- Provide comprehensive healthcare services to patients of all ages and with all types of conditions
- Elicit histories, perform examinations, order and interpret diagnostic studies, instruct and counsel patients about their diagnosis
- All aspects of pre-operative and post-operative care, as well as first or second assisting during surgery
- Facilitate the appropriate referral of patients, consistent with his or her supervising physician’s scope of expertise and responsibility and delegated to him/her by the supervising physician
- Working 40 hours per week between the Boston and Waltham locations, with the possibility of travel to other satellite locations
To qualify, you must have:
- Master’s degree from a Physician Assistant Program
- Current Massachusetts Physician Assistant License
- ACLS, PALS, and BLS certification (will provide training if not already certified)
- Previous experience as a Physician Assistant in a clinical setting and operating room strongly preferred
- A strong interest in and understanding of the Plastic & Oral Surgery disciplines
- Ability to travel to Boston Children’s Hospital satellite locations
- Flexibility and ability to work in a collaborative atmosphere
- Work requires the analytical skills to resolve highly complex problems requiring the application of clinical, scientific or technical principles, theories and concepts and in-depth, cross-functional experience-based knowledge
- Work requires communication skills to effectively deal with conflicting views or issues and medicated fair solutions, and well-developed writing skills
