Hours: 2:00 pm - 10:30 pm (8 hours per day, Monday - Friday)
RECRUITING REQUIREMENTS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY: Support the Director of Facilities and the operations of the Buildings & Grounds Department, District-Wide. Good knowledge of painting practices, techniques and safety precautions of the trade; good knowledge of the characteristics of common types of paints and finishes from the standpoint of durability, suitability for different purposes and ease of handling and application; good knowledge of the acceptable use of color following color harmony schemes, ability to erect and work from scaffolds, swing stages and ladders; ability to lay out work for self and others; ability to use tools, equipment and materials of the painting trade; ability to stand for long periods of time, to climb and to bend; ability to understand and carry out written and verbal instructions; good color perception; good hand and eye coordination, manual dexterity; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: (a) Four years of full-time experience under a journeyman painter which provided training equivalent to that given in an apprenticeship program and one (1) year of full-time experience as a journeyman painter; OR (b) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (a). Apprenticeship training in painting or training gained by completion of technical courses in painting at a school, institute or a branch of the Armed Services may be substituted for the above training and experience on a year-for-year basis.
