JOB TITLE: Nurse Practitioner, Department of Youth Services Adolescent Health
LOCATION: Brockton and Taunton
HOURS: Full-Time (35 Hours per week) Monday – Friday with rotating Saturdays
BENEFITS: Medical, dental, holiday, paid earned leave, 403b, etc.
SALARY: $100,000.00 Annually
OVERVIEW: The Nurse Practitioner works in collaboration with other team members and program staff to provide primary health care to DYS detained and committed youth. The responsibilities of the Nurse Practitioner include, but are not limited to:
DESCRIPTION:
- Coordinate delivery of health care to adolescents in DYS residential programs, including integration of primary care, psychiatry services, and health education.
- Complete medical intake on all new youth as needed
- Conduct sick call clinics and physical exams in accordance with agency policy and protocol
- Triage, referral, and follow up of medical problems as needed
- Consult with MD and team members on individual youth needs
- Institute medication administration record for all medications started
- Oversee proper recording, storage, and monitoring of medications in accordance with agency policy
- Perform lab procedures as indicated
- Maintain medical records and documentation in accordance with agency policy
- Ensure that all medical services provided are consistent with agency policy and procedure
- Review and recommend updates of protocols with Regional Medical Director and Program Director
- Maintain inventory of medical and lab supplies
- Covers other units/programs as needed to ensure coverage
- Attend monthly staff meetings and other program meetings as needed
1. Coordinate health education activities for youth including:
- Identification of health education needs of youth
- Target health curriculum to meet the needs of individual youth
- Develop health education curriculum modules and activities for youth health education groups
- Provide training to DYS and program staff including:
- Educate DYS staff on youth health problems and individual needs including after-hours care
- Train DYS staff on Client Centered Medication Self Administration policy and use of medical on-call including emergency care
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Licensed Nurse Practitioner with at least 2 years pediatric/adolescent health experience. Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams, and high-risk adolescents. Awareness of and sensitivity to diverse cultures.
