PeaceHealth is seeking a Medical Office Assistant for a Full Time, 1.00 FTE, Day position. Hourly compensation is $21.63 – $29.13; hiring rate dependent on qualifications, professional experience, and/or work location.

In collaboration with the healthcare team, assists providers in the delivery of patient care in the clinic setting working within the scope of practice for a Medical Office Assistant. Coordinates clinic workflow by identifying and prioritizing individual patient needs.

Details of the position:

  • Prepares exam and/or treatment rooms prior to patient rooming, ensuring infection prevention standards are met and setup of necessary equipment for examination. Prepares patient for examination and treatment or anesthesia interview as appropriate, by obtaining height, weight, blood pressure and temperature (after competency validation is completed).
  • Transcribes information from patient questionnaires and updates Health Maintenance. May assign My PeaceHealth questionnaires as directed. Ensures chart notes from outside entities are received and information is updated in chart.
  • Prepares and maintains supplies and equipment for treatments. Assists with ordering and supply management. Manages temp track medication / immunization refrigeration.. Assists with Recall List management.
  • May transport specimens.
  • May assist in scheduling patients for non-urgent tests, initial and follow up appointments. Sends appointment reminder letters, monitors voicemail and may take non-clinical calls from patients and staff. May notify patient by standard letter or My PH template only, of normal results that have been reviewed by a clinical caregiver. May transport patients utilizing escort or wheeled transport equipment.
  • Completes all necessary documentation, faxing, sorting and printing. May maintain patient files, records, and other information including entry of data into electronic medical record.
  • Collaborates with a variety of personnel and departments to ensure smooth clinic operations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What you bring:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of medical office or related customer service experience preferred.
  • BLS Required.
  • Ability to maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in the use of computer and office equipment. Familiarity with desktop computing tools, multi-line phone systems and insurance billing preferred.
  • Ability to efficiently manage time and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrates a caring, respectful and compassionate attitude towards all people.
  • Takes responsibility for personal growth.
  • Takes initiative to meet the challenges within the environment.
  • Oriented toward solutions through collaboration.
