Marketing Manager - Adjuvants

The objective of this job is to develop and deliver the marketing strategy for your assigned portfolio(s) to the entire WinField United organization. This includes delivering on financial targets and managing the products, pricing and programs that drive the portfolio growth. Work closely with sales on new and existing placement opportunities within our retail channels.

Duty or Area of Responsibility

Portfolio Management

  • Complete ownership of assigned portfolios from top to bottom
  • Collaborate with Product Development on product life cycle management of existing products.
  • Work closely with sales, product development and supply chain to optimize the portfolio for growth while managing down costs.
  • Collaborate with key marketing areas (e.g. Marketing Communications, Demand Creation, Business Intelligence, Customer Marketing and Internal Marketing Communications Teams) in development of sales aids that drive portfolio growth.
  • Present and communicate portfolio initiatives and business priorities to internal and external audiences
  • Partner with, and direct, Agronomy and Product Development on all product development needs including but not limited to additional testing, portfolio gaps, formulation development & improvements and product launches.
  • Own new product launches and new product set-up process for portfolio
  • Collaborate and direct supply chain on annual and on-going forecasts.
  • Partner with procurement to support supplier relationships.

Pricing and price discovery

  • Utilize analytics and insights to identify the optimal wholesale price for portfolio.
  • Set and maintain the national price for portfolio.
  • Set and maintain price floors and guide customer marketing team in discounting of portfolio.
  • Manage the overall income statement for portfolio with an emphasis on pricing and margin structure.
  • Assess portfolio value to market and gain insight into value and competitive positions on a regular basis.
  • Maintain deep knowledge of COGS and relationship to margin maintenance for portfolio.
  • Communicate market positions in assisting supply to understand competitive COG positions.

Program Management & Market Communication

  • Partner with, and direct, Demand Creation and Internal Marketing Communications teams to develop and execute on marketing programs tied to your portfolio.
  • Ensure programs match portfolio strategy and ladder up to the broader WinField United business strategies.
  • Have deep knowledge of all WinField United Crop Protection programs and pitch in to support internal teams when called upon.
  • Manage assigned marketing budget by coming in at or under budget annually.

Field Coordination

  • Be a champion and cheerleader for your portfolio to the sales and customer marketing organization.
    • Product positioning and training
    • Directional leadership to technical services
    • Product positioning at Answer Plots
    • Portfolio's role within programs
  • Provide over-sight of Q/A and complaint management.

Required Experience/Knowledge/Skills :

  • Bachelor of Science, Master of Science a plus in related field
  • 5+ years of successful management of product / portfolio P&L
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Public speaking experience
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Project management skills
  • Strong financial acumen
  • Proven ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders
  • Microsoft office application proficiency; specifically, in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Thrives in a cross-functional, matrixed team environment
  • Is comfortable leading through ambiguity and driving change
  • Knowledge of pesticide uses in crop protection of agricultural crops is preferred

Office environment. Travel up to 20%
