Job Summary:

The Maintenance Planner is responsible for all aspects of planning and scheduling maintenance work in a safe and efficient manner on a daily basis for the Reno plant facility. This includes managing work orders, planning preventive maintenance, and managing continuous improvement programs within the maintenance department.

Job Duties:

Conducts maintenance planning for multiple Departments and Maintenance Technicians by:

  • Setting-up and maintaining any preventive maintenance work orders established in the Company's Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) including job plans, frequency of work, crafts, man-hours, and parts/tools required.
  • Coordinate PM and PDM activities within site and corporate TMP initiatives.
  • Work closely with MRO to make sure that all items are in stock and available to perform PM & PDM activities before the work begins.
  • Managing and maintaining the workflow process (work identification, planning, scheduling, execution, and auditing).
  • Running reports for Preventative and Predictive Maintenance Orders that are due.
  • Prioritizing and facilitating schedule PM and PDM Work orders with respective departments.
  • Following up with departments to make sure that PM & PDM work orders are being carried out, returned, and closed out.
  • Making sure that issues found during PM & PDM activities are being followed up on and addressed.
  • Entering all exceptions in the CMMS.
  • Coordinating outside vendors for PM work on ancillary equipment such as compressors, forklifts, HVAC, etc.
  • Contacting outside vendors for repairs of ancillary equipment when problems arise.
  • Entering Purchase Requisitions in SAP.

Maintaining work order backlog of work for specific areas of the plant, including:

  • Reviewing all new work requests entered in the CMMS for applicability, correctness, and clarity.
  • Cleaning up, evaluating, and managing the backlog and capturing and recording necessary equipment and material history.
  • Running reports so the Engineering and Maintenance Manager and Technical Managers can monitor the daily, weekly, and monthly Key Performance Indicators (KPIs);
  • Working with site management to achieve compliance of plant and corporate defined specifications and
  • Reviewing previous days' work packages to check for follow up work and to ensure work orders are correctly closed out

Directs the operation of the storeroom as it relates to maintenance planning and scheduling by:

  • Generating purchase requests for non-stocked parts and tools to support the plan.
  • In conjunction with MRO, develop storeroom organization surrounding parts kitting, to include shelving, locations, storage kits, carts, and markings.
  • Working with storeroom/MRO personnel to ensure we have the right parts, at the right price, when the part is needed.
  • Working with storeroom/MRO personnel to ensure inventories are maintained at the lowest practical levels.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent maintenance planning experience in a continuous operating (24/7) manufacturing environment.
  • Electrical and mechanical background preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Good mechanical / technical skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Possess excellent teamwork abilities, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Work Environment:
This position works in a manufacturing environment and around machinery that produces noise.
The noise level in the work environment is very loud. Employees must wear hearing protection and all other assigned personal protective equipment. Temperature can range from extreme cold (<40 degrees) to extreme heat (>95 degrees). The atmosphere contains fumes, dust, and odors.
