As the Low Voltage Systems Designer at TRL Systems, you will be responsible for drafting code compliant drawings timely for low voltage systems (Fire, Security, and Nurse call) being installed by TRL Systems, Inc.

You will keep informed of industry standards to ensure drawings meet all necessary specifications for code compliant installations. Your responsibilities include performing job walks in partnership with a Systems Designer II.

Essential Functions:

  • Ensures that regular and consistent communication takes place with both internal and external customers; acknowledges and addresses requests received via phone, email or company systems daily.
  • Manages own time and resources to achieve identified objectives; is diligent in meeting all communicated/defined deadlines. Monitors and updates tickets/tasks/activities assigned to them in company CRM.
  • Designs code-compliant drawings that will be submitted for review and approval to the applicable AHJ. Can communicate the content of the design to others and identifies and provides value engineering when possible.
  • Reviews project documentation to ensure all considerations have been applied to drawings as needed; collaborates with Account Executives, Project Managers, and other identified team members as well as AHJ’s to ensure drawings meet all required specifications.
  • Communicates and reviews the content of the design to others as needed/requested.
  • Enters accurate time daily to tickets assigned and/or timesheet; providing a real time budget visual to company management.
  • Punctuality and regular attendance

Physical Demands & Work Environment:
  • Ability to make repetitive movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers, daily
  • Ability to walk, bend, stoop, hear, and speak, daily
  • Move/Transport items weighing 20+ pounds, occasionally
  • Stand or Sit for long periods (4+ hours), daily
  • Work is generally performed in an office environment
Position Requirements:
  • 0-3 years low voltage system design
  • High school diploma (or equivalent)
  • Valid California Driver License and proof of auto insurance.
