Job Summary
Are you a licensed Journey Line Technician who is looking for an advanced opportunity to #powerbeyond? We are currently recruiting for a Local Representative - Electric to support the community in and around Auburndale, WI.
For this role, we are looking for a licensed journey Line Technician to work both independently and alongside crews as needed. Primarily working in an assigned outlying electric area away from the district office. In this role you are responsible for promoting the interests of the company, upholding prestige, interpreting and applying policies, improving public relations, and maintaining company property.
In this position, you will take after-hours emergency and outage calls. Due to this on-call responsibility, Local Representative positions will be required to live within 20 minutes of the center of the territory unless response time is negatively impacted and alternate boundaries are required. Exceptions may be allowed with management approval for Local Representatives to exceed 20 minutes from center.

What you will do
  • Detects and corrects distribution system defects or faults, and reports defects or faults on the transmission system.
  • Collects accounts and handles customer complaints and explains company rules, rates and policies.
  • Connects and disconnects customer service.
  • Installs and maintains service lines and streetlight systems.
  • Installs, removes and reads meters.
  • Replaces line, transformer and customer fuses.
  • Sets recording instruments for tests and surveys.
  • Climbs poles and assists line crews as required.
  • Operates and maintains a small hydro plant and/or a substation.
  • Performs trouble shooting on company and customer equipment.
  • Maintains records and prepare reports according to established procedures.
  • Contacts shareowners.
  • Performs other duties which are similar, related or incidental to this position.

Required Experience
  • 1 year experience as a journeyman line technician

Other Requirements
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License prior to the end of trial period
  • This position is covered by the Department of Transportation regulations on drug/alcohol testing (CFR 49, Parts 40 and 382), and is subject to drug/alcohol testing according to said regulations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of service work, ability to plan and execute work with very little supervision
  • Thorough knowledge of company Safety Rules and Operating Practices and requirements of the State Electrical Code as it relates to line construction and maintenance.
  • A demonstrated responsibility to the company and public
  • Some supervisory ability
  • The ability to perform the physical requirements of the job.
  • The employee must live within the community of customers being served and possess the ability to win and hold the respect and approval of the community.
  • Ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse work group.
