Job Description
The Department of Gender, Race, and Identity at the University of Nevada, Reno
invites applications for a Lecturer or Teaching Assistant Professor in Gender, Race, and Identity (GRI). This is a full-time, continuing position that entails a 4/4 teaching load, with primary duties consisting of teaching eight regularly scheduled courses per academic year, four each semester, in the department. We seek applicants who bring a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching, a dynamic teaching agenda, and a commitment to supporting the department’s endeavors in student growth and community engagement.
The successful candidate will demonstrate experience and skills in teaching introductory and advanced undergraduate courses in women’s, gender, and sexuality studies and feminist theory, centered through intersectional analysis. In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will have the ability to contribute to advising and/or programming in GRI.

Required Qualifications
  • M.A. (for Lecturer) or Ph.D. (for Teaching Assistant Professor) in Gender/Women’s Studies, English, or a related field in hand by July 1, 2023.
  • Demonstrated record of excellence in teaching and experience teaching introductory and advanced undergraduate courses in women’s, gender, and sexuality studies and feminist theory, centered through intersectional analysis.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to teach courses for the department’s minor in Holocaust, Genocide, and Peace Studies
  • Experience in undergraduate research mentorship
  • Formal or informal experience in departmental outreach and advising
  • Evidence of attention to diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching and/or service
